Day 36. Best Foot Forward

Some birds, and in particular Pigeons are sometimes given bad press, earning the nickname of “flying rats”. Rats can be directly linked to spreading numerous diseases. The myths that wild birds carry disease are just that, myths.

Whilst their droppings can appear unpleasant and unsightly there is little or no evidence of anyone getting ill from a pigeon. This negative propaganda stems mainly from Pest Control companies, whose interest it is that vermin be seen everywhere, it does after all keep them in business. I for one like pigeons, and they bring a little life and nature to the grey concrete landscapes we have to live and work in.
